One young lady in my group was intellectually very bright but lacked social and emotional acceptance. I was able to help her work on fitting in by using her academic strengths to build her self esteem. If she had a rough day I would encourage her to journal her thoughts and feelings. This help her sort things out and be able to view her difficulties more objectively which boosted her self esteem. She went from feeling bullied to empowered. “
